As soon as the new government in India sworn in, the most awaited project was "100 smart cities in India". A smart city defines and include its modern connectivity, infrastructure, town planning and first and foremost a village / town / city / metro city or smart city is always belongs to people who will live there.
Every City shall have compulsory cycle lane at both the sides of road like Chandigarh. Their shall be subsidized multilevel parking available for bicycle parking at all the station, bus stop, and other crowded areas, as unless the right incentives are awarded no plans or schemes becomes as successful.
A Cycle drive is pollution free. A person can easily cover a distance upto 5 kilometer on bicycle. Traffic will be much controlled. Riding a bicycle may not as popular in Chandigarh because Chandigarh is UT and the first planned city of India. But, the cycling lane is need of modern cities of India. We shall see European countries where people are open and prefer to drive bicycle.
Bicycle lanes will give cities more peace, connectivity and health.
Bicycle Companies shall take serious initiatives with this proposal to Government. Hero, Atlas are the leading brand in bicycle from generations. The move will invite innovation in cycling industry and traffic management in India.
P.S. we are not suggesting cycle lane for cycle rikshaw, as its inhuman act when a person puts his complete physical energy to transport human being from one place to another.
